What is your name?

My name is Rowena.

What is your skin condition?

My skin condition is vitiligo, which I have had since an early age of a few months old.

Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition where the pigmentation the skin is attacked by the body and destroyed, causing white patches.

How does your skin condition affect your day-to-day living?

As a child and young adult, I was always embarrassed for people to see me in public and have always had low self-esteem. As I grew older my patches have expanded and spread, and my skin is now totally white, with no pigmentation at all. As a result, my skin is very sun sensitive and is very prone to burning quickly and easily.

What you have found to alleviate it?

I do not like sunscreen smothered all over my body, so I have been seeking some suitable ways to keep myself sun safe. A friend recommended Solbari clothing and I am pleased to have found a cool, comfortable, casual selection of clothes and accessories that enable me to feel confident in the sun and taking good care of my skin.

Thank you Rowena for helping raise awareness for skin conditions by sharing your story with us and our Solbari Community.
